Disclaimer - I've used Arduinos in the past, but never used the MATLAB Arduino package. With that said, I'm not sure if this is your issue, but one thing to consider is whether you want your callback to reinitialize the Arduino pinmode every time. It seems to me like you'd really want to set up the Arduino pin modes and COM ports in the GUI initialization, and then have your callback only perform the digitalWrite. If using GUIDE, then you will find a GUI initialization function that you can use to do the initialization.

Then, you can use the guidata function to add the Arduino object to the guidata. Something like.

If you aren't, then you probably know your GUI's initialization better than I do.

There are two main possibilities. The first one is to make a GUI on the Arduino itself. Add a TFT screen, touchscreen if you want the user to interact, or a non-touchscreen (cheaper) if you just want to display. Then, within your Arduino code, you can display the temperature data, and if you go the touchscreen route, interact with the user. I own a couple of devices, and they would be near perfect for this, as they have a non-touch TFT screen, a joystick, buttons and a pot.

All the equipment you need to display the temperature. Oh, and it has temperature and light sensors onboard. The second way would be to make a GUI on your desktop/laptop machine. In your Arduino code, you could send your temperature data through USB (Serial), Bluetooth (SoftwareSerial), WiFi, Ethernet, nRF, etc etc etc. If you don't mind having the Arduino tethered to your computer by a cable, USBSerial is the easiest solution. The software on the computer listens on a serial socket and when it receives temperature data, it displays it within its GUI.

Update: i did find my drivers, but the program that came with the drivers, and the computer its self wont recognize the camera though when plugged in it makes the trademark plunk noise to let me know all is connected. Argus bean sprout driver. The little hardware symbol pops up as well, im at a loss!
