Gta san andreas 1.01 patch error. Before we had kids and both us working, I did not have to pump the tank for over 10 years. Once the kids (3 of 'em) started using toilets, it been cut down to about every 3 - 4 years. As a matter of fact, for the reminder cause we're about due. Best way to tell is remove cover and check with long stick.
You will feel resistance once you hit the settled solids. Don't believe those that tell you that you never have to pump out your tank. The sludge broken down by the bacteria has to go somewhere (down) and when there is no romm left there it will go out to your distribution field. Then you have major problems and cost. When we crack the top off of ours, the septic guy checks the 'scum layer'.
Seems like there ends up being a layer of liquid on top then it thickens then it's liquid at the bottom again. Ours went 10 years easy but it's been about 3 now and I plan to have it checked again this summer. Only costs about 60.00 to have pumped out so I shouldn't put it off so long. Last time the guy pumped it out it was after 10 years of no cleanout. He had to work at it a lot - we also have a grey water tank along side the black water tank.
That one was worse. Probably went 25 years on that one. He asked for 75 for the two of them combined. I gave him a 100.00 bill and thanked him. That seemed like too much work for 75 bucks.
We got this stuff called Activator 2000, it comes with a guarantee that if you use it and you still have to have your system pumped they will pay for it. We started using it about three or four years ago and since have not had any problems even over the holidays when this house is bulging at the seems with people!

We did have a problem about 2 years ago with a broken pipe under the basement floor that we could not find but that didn’t have anything to do with the septic tank. We actually had them come clean it out because the plumber got right down into the tank! He put in some kind of special pipe snake cleaner in from the down there but it didn’t work and we just had to dig up the floor and lay all new pipe! Never did find the broken pipe because we just bypassed all of it and laid new.
But this is what the label says. Activator 2000 is used for preventive maintenance. The method is natural digestion of food, by living friendly bacteria. They recycle wastes that build up in your septic tank pipes and drain fields. Activator 2000 is basically a blend of high potency bacteria that produced enxymes that act as a catalystic agent and speeds up the fermentation rate when coming in contact with organic waste. Almost sounds like I am trying to sell this stuff, but to tell you the truth I don't even know where to get it? Actually you don't have to whack a chicken or bang bunnies until their guts pop out as everything and the ONLY thing you need to activate a tank ('innoculate') is your poop.
EVERYTHING bacterial needed for sewage digestion is contained in YOUR digestive tract. (Save the bunnies for pregnancy tests! ) When bacteria gets to it's final destination in the tank it multiplies and keeps the tank 'working'. The only thing that can stop it is an environment of excess chemicals in the water or no more 'stuff'. Higher the heavy solids get the less water there is and a better chance of chemicals affecting the bacteria. Things bad for tanks are: Excessive detergents, DRAIN CLEANER, chemicals of any and all kinds, bones and peelings from power sink disposal, in fact the only good stuff for septics IS poop. Pump tank when solids reach 1/3 to 1/2 in single tank or in second compartment if you have a double baffled tank.
Make sure both inlet and outlet baffles are properly in place, this is important as it protects your septic leach fields from solid floating matter that WILL plug the holes in the field pipes. If and when the settled solids reach the height of the inlet baffle you get the condition known as 'Slowflushie' which can lead to much mopping and cursing. As mentioned before, sooner or later depending on how much soap, washing detergent, dirt from clothes washer, solid undigestible matter from sink drains, etc. All wind up in the bottom of the tank.
AND so does the matter MADE by the bacteria. Much of the stuff on top is made up of the remains of grease which bacteria don't eat very much of.
Even after the tank is pumped you will not need to re-innoculate the bacteria as there's plenty of 'em left down there and when you get the pumping bill you are going to add plenty! 'A healthy septic makes a happy homeowner, no $hit!'
